Charlotte Episode 3 Review

The third episode revolves around Nishimori or Kurobane Yusa. The problem for this episode starts when the group detected someone who uses two supernatural abilities.

It seems that the person is an anomaly so far as the show is concern. There’s no actual problem with the episode’s storyline about that however the pacing of scenes is fast that the direction failed to give emphasis on Yusa’s background. So, Yusa’s real problem is not clear for this episode and the storyline left its viewers questioning Yusa’s problem and intentions. To put this simply, the episode’s focus on Yusa’s problem is vague and lacks emphasis on important elements that supposed to support it.

The characterization remains fairly good in this episode. However Yu is becoming the Kyon of this series. This expresses Maeda’s style in characterization. Yusa’s characterization is lacking in this episode because the focus of it is Kurobane Misa, her sister. In contrast to that, Misa’s characterization is fairly good for this one. Meanwhile, Tomori remains tough and her partner is showing another side of his character which should be an additional bonus to his characterization however it didn’t actually helped the characters solve the main problem in this episode.
